From Underdog to World Cup Contender: Kennedy Justinen's Unstoppable Journey
The story of an underdog athlete & her mindset/spiritual mentor
6 years ago when I started my Entrepreneur & coaching journey, I was working part-time at for a local pub - The Canadian Brewhouse and during my time there I met Kennedy Justinen.
When I met Kennedy she was fresh into her snowboard cross journey and I was fresh into my mindset coaching with my company Your Mindset Mentor. After our General Manager had mentioned to Kennedy that she should talk to me about what she was doing and that I might be able to help her along the way, we found ourselves in a conversation as our shifts were finishing.
To say the rest is history would not do our relationship and what we have accomplished justice. In this article today I am going to share with you more about Kennedy, who she has become through our work together, what our journey has been like, and where we are today.
Yes - 6 years later we are still working together. We have both evolved as individuals and as a team towards her goal of achieving a spot on the world cup and the greater goal of going to the olympics and my goal of supporting a high level athlete to the top through mindset & spiritual development.
This article will be the first of many as Kennedy and I share our journey with the world through my sub-publication Road To Gold.

Meet Kennedy Justinen, a force to be reckoned with on the snowboarding circuit and the brains behind The Vibe Line, a clothing brand with a message. Kennedy's story is one of grit, determination, and the power of believing in yourself against all odds.
Kennedy wasn't always the powerhouse athlete and entrepreneur she is today. Starting from scratch with no snowboard cross experience, no sponsors, minimal social media presence, but a passion for snowboarding, she set out to become a professional snowboard cross athlete who could represent her home country of Canada at the olympics.
Kennedy's goal has been simple: learn how to ride snowboarder cross, get a spot on the World Cup circuit, look towards the olympics, and inspire others along the way. As time has progressed that goal has expanded into scoring some sweet sponsorships, launching her own clothing line, and actually believing she could make it to the olympics one day.

To help Kennedy achieve her dreams she partnered with Danielle Grant at the beginning of her journey. Danielle has quickly become one of the secret weapons behind Kennedy's success. With a blend of mindset coaching, spiritual guidance, business strategy, and straight-up no bull sh*t mentoring, Danielle has helped Kennedy navigate the twists and turns of her journey.
Over the course of 6 rollercoaster years, Kennedy and Danielle have faced it all: setbacks, self-doubt, haters, you name it. But armed with weekly 1:1 calls, personalized meditations, journal prompts, custom business strategy, accountability, and a whole lot of heart, they continue to push through the discomfort and power toward their goals.
With the efforts of Kennedy as the athlete and Danielle as the mindset/spiritual mentor & business strategist, they have racked up some wins to-date! Kennedy's race results have skyrocketed from underdog to the North American Championship Title in 2023 and most currently landing her a place on the current world cup circuit, with a recent 9th place win in Les Deux Alpes, France 2024.
Kennedy's brand The Vibe Line has started to gain serious traction and the partnerships she is creating with her sponsors is something inspiring to witness. From opportunities to work with Fairmont Hotels, upcoming snowboard brands, and local individuals and brands in her community. This year also saw Kennedy step into the arena of public speaking.
Through the ups and downs, Kennedy has learned some valuable lessons. Like how mindset is everything, and having someone who will believe in you when you cannot and who will hold you accountable to your actions can make all the difference. Oh, and never underestimate the power of telling everyone you can about who you are, what you are doing, how they can support your journey, and where they can buy the apparel you are wearing.
Kennedy's journey is far from over. With her sights set on the Olympics and a whole world of possibilities ahead, she's just getting started. And with Danielle by her side, there's no telling what she'll achieve next....
